Who I Am and What I Do

For a long time I have suffered from the neck and shoulder pain episodes that very often led to the migraines.  The doctor offered me medication that I have to take every time I felt onset of my symptoms for the rest of my life.  I didn’t embrace a drug dependent scenario and went to see the osteopath who explained that my body structure, posture and habits are the contributory causes of my problems.  He suggested implementation of massages for realigning my body, releasing my tension and knots in the muscle and yoga classes for relaxation and stretching in order to improve my symptoms. I needed quite a few massage session to get rid of the tension in my shoulders and neck that accumulated for years that, combined with yoga sessions, helped my stiffness and pain fade away, it has not disappeared completely but the symptoms are much lighter and less frequent as the numbers of migraines have been reduced too.  Predictably Massage and yoga became my “go-to” solutions, yoga has made me much more flexible than I was in my twenties and massages release my muscle tension, eliminate the stiffness and needless to say both relax my mind.

Since I have seen improvement I have become more interested in complimentary treatment and have regular massage sessions and yoga classes. When my daughter became a slave to the screen and her posture in her teens became worse than mine I decided to learn and do more myself. I took a Level 3 and 4 sport massage course. It was interesting and beneficial to learn about our body system, its function and purpose. To widen my knowledge and skills I also enrolled for a lymphatic and pregnancy massage courses.  As I enjoyed yoga so much and have seen the benefits of it too I did a 200 hour Yoga Teacher course.

Learning massage therapy and practicing yoga gave me an opportunity to comprehend and treat health issues in myself. I love the idea of helping people live a pain free life and from my own experience I know massages do help and I can relate to peoples problems.  Besides, massage is a wonderful concept and a well-deserved treat to ourselves. As for yoga, apart from flexibility, toning and stretching that makes us feel younger and springy, it guide us to a healthier better and happier life style.

If we take care of our body now it will serve us well in the long run.
